Diversity and Discrimination in Employer Reviews
The next major research project I am focusing on examines the construction of company culture via employer reviews on Glassdoor, analyzing reviews of tech companies specifically. Glassdoor is a leading website on which current and previous employees post anonymous reviews of employers, which job candidates can peruse. How are gendered and racialized employee experiences reflected in reviews of tech companies? How do gendered and racialized narratives shared on Glassdoor impact job candidates’ decision to apply or take a job at a specific company? This work will provide novel insights into not just how employees frame their experiences working for tech companies, but also how such public constructions impact the job search process.
